Asvin Goel is Adjunct Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management within the MIT-Zaragoza International Logistics Program, and Researcher at the University of Leipzig's Applied Telematics/e-Business Group. His current research interests include Transport Telematics, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, and Combinatorial Optimisation. Asvin was principle investigator of the research project In-Transit Visibility, which was jointly conducted by the MIT Center for Transport and Logistics, the Zaragoza Logistics Center, DHL Exel Supply Chain and Deutsche Post World Net. He worked several years as an independent consultant and software developer for the motor carrier industry. As project manager he was responsible for redesigning and extending the existing real-time decision support system of a European motor carrier specialised in Road Feeder Services.
Asvin Goel received his doctorate degree (Dr. rer. nat.) from the University of Leipzig, Germany. He is author of the book Fleet Telematics: Real-Time Management and Planning of Commercial Vehicle Operations. His research findings are published at numerous national and international conferences and in leading scientific journals such as Transportation Science and European Journal of Operational Research.
